About NITK Surathkal

The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal is one of India's premier technical institutions, established in 1960. Spread across a lush 295-acre campus on the shores of the Arabian Sea, NITK is consistently ranked among the top engineering institutes in the country.

The campus is a unique blend of academic excellence and natural beauty — bordered by a serene beach on one side and the Western Ghats on the other. With state-of-the-art research facilities, modern conference halls, and warm hospitality, NITK provides an ideal setting for an international conference of ICDCN's stature.

The conference will be hosted at the Lecture Hall Complex (LHC), equipped with large auditoriums, seminar halls, and modern AV infrastructure, capable of comfortably accommodating all conference tracks.

The Beach

NITK's own private beach stretches along the campus. The iconic lighthouse standing tall on the rocks is one of the most photographed spots on the entire Konkan coast.

Green Campus

Lush greenery, coconut groves, and scenic walking paths make the campus a refreshing retreat. The sunsets over the Arabian Sea from campus are truly spectacular.

Food & Culture

Coastal Karnataka cuisine — fresh seafood, neer dosa, mangalorean curries — is a culinary adventure. On-campus and nearby restaurants cater to all preferences.

By Air

Mangalore International Airport (IXE)

The nearest airport, approximately 20 km from NITK. Direct flights operate from Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and several Gulf cities. Prepaid taxis and app cabs are available at the airport.

Calicut International Airport (CCJ)

Approximately 279 km from NITK. A good alternative with strong connectivity to Gulf destinations. Buses and taxis to Mangalore are readily available.

Taxi from Mangalore Airport to NITK takes approx. 35–45 minutes. Fare ₹600–₹900.

By Train

Surathkal Railway Station

The closest station, just 2 km from NITK. Several trains on the Konkan Railway and other routes stop here. Auto-rickshaws and taxis are available.

Mangalore Central / Mangalore Junction

The main railway hub, approximately 18 km away. Well-connected to Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, and Kerala. Local buses, autos, and cabs to NITK are easily available.

Recommended trains: Matsyagandha Express (Mumbai), Netravati Express (Thiruvananthapuram), Mangala Lakshadweep (Delhi).

By Road

From Bangalore

Approximately 350 km via NH 75. KSRTC and private luxury buses operate overnight and daytime services. Journey takes about 7–8 hours.

From Goa

Approximately 320 km via NH 66 (Coastal Highway). Scenic coastal drive or direct bus services available. Journey takes about 4–5 hours.

From Mangalore City

NITK is 17 km from Mangalore city centre. City buses (Route 35A), autos, and cabs connect regularly throughout the day.
